Il software è disponibile da sorgenti di terze parti, così come dalle sorgenti software predefinite di Ubuntu. Per installare software da sorgenti di terze parti, è necessario aggiungerle all'elenco delle sorgenti disponibili.

 Aggiungere solamente repository software da fonti fidate!
 I repository di terze parti non vengono controllati dal gruppo di sicurezza di Ubuntu e potrebbero contenere programmi potenzialmente dannosi.

To add a repository:

 Click the <app>Ubuntu Software</app> icon in the <gui>Dock</gui>, or search
 for <input>Software</input> in the Activities search bar.

 When <app>Ubuntu Software</app> launches, click <gui>Software & Updates</gui>

 Se richiesto, inserire la propria password e quindi selezionare la scheda <gui>Altro software</gui>.

 Fare clic su <gui>Aggiungi</gui> e inserire l'indirizzo APT del repository. Questo dovrebbe essere reperibile dal sito web del repository e dovrebbe essere simile a:

 <app>Ubuntu Software</app> will then check your software sources for new

 Most repositories provide a signing key to be able to verify downloaded packages.
 So in addition to the steps above, you should follow possible instructions on how to
 download and install the signing key (GPG key).

 <title>Attivare le sorgenti dei partner di Canonical</title>
 
 The Canonical Partner repository offers some proprietary applications 
 that don't cost any money to use but are closed source. They include 
 software like <app>Adobe Flash Plugin</app>. Software in this
 repository will appear in <app>Ubuntu Software</app> search results
 but won't be installable until this repository is enabled.
 
 Per abilitare il repository, seguire i passi indicati sopra per aprire la scheda <gui>Altro software</gui> in <app>Software e aggiornamenti</app>. Se nell'elenco è presente il repository <gui>Partner di Canonical</gui>, assicurarsi che sia selezionato e quindi chiudere la finestra di <app>Software e aggiornamenti</app>. Nel caso non fosse presente, fare clic su <gui>Aggiungi…</gui> e digitare:
